The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is turning 100 next fall, and is celebrating with 14 months of events, exhibitions, community conversations and promotions. Named after our favorite founding father, and conceived by French planner Paul Philippe Cret and designer Jacques Gréber, the Parkway was originally modeled after the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Today, the one-mile flag-lined thoroughfare that runs from City Hall to the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a cultural mecca - replete with world-class institutions, a renowned collection of public art, and lovely green spaces.
