Exclusive opportunity for Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) members only! Private tour of limited exhibit at PAFA

GPA, in partnership with The Walnut Club, is hosting a private tour for our members only of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) latest exhibit:

Rina Banerjee: Make Me a Summary of the World

Join us on March 15th for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at this contemporary artist's complex and fanciful world.

This exhibit is the first in-depth exploration of the contemporary practice of artist Rina Banerjee, co-organized by PAFA and the San José Museum of Art (SJMA).

Banerjee’s life and her art emerge from and represent the broadest reaches of the globe. Born in Kolkata, India, Banerjee spent much of her youth in the northeastern region of the United States, including Philadelphia, and she has traveled widely internationally.

Her paintings and sculptures investigate various themes, which overlap throughout her works, such as immigration and identity, colonialism and globalization, climate change, and feminism. (Photo: In Full Bloom; credit: PAFA)

Known for her large-scale sculptures and installations made from materials sourced throughout the world, ranging from African tribal jewelry to colorful feathers, light bulbs, and Murano glass. Banerjee’s art celebrates diversity at the material level.
