Bonsai: A Living Art Form

Date:
Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 10:30am - 3:30pm
Location:
Morris Arboretum, 100 E Northwestern Ave,
Philadelphia, PA 19118
United States

In this course, we will cover bonsai history, trees, design standards, seasonal care, watering, fertilizing, disease/insect control, and tools. There will be an up-close demonstration of techniques focused on styling, pruning, wiring, and potting along with time for questions and answers. Each student will receive their own tree, pot, soil, and wire and have the chance to create their own bonsai for outdoor display. At the end of the course, each student goes home with a table-top bonsai and written instructions on caring for their tree. If given reasonable care, your bonsai should last for many years. Tom DeSimone worked for and studied with Chase Rosade of Rosade Bonsai Studio in New Hope, PA and has his own collection of more than 25 bonsai trees.
